To be "journeyproud" in the minds of
Black Texans meant to acknowledge the difficulties of the past,
but, more importantly, the promises of the future as they
envisioned and embarked upon travel through time and space. This
spirit of optimism was to be found in the larger experiences of
African Americans and women in general as they traversed hard
times and triumphed, however successfully or modestly, in new
surroundings and lives, finding their versions of freedom and
fulfillment and speaking their truths as they knew them.
Sweet Earth Flying Press' Adult Division
welcomes manuscripts that issue from this undaunted spirit of
people of color and women around the world: manuscripts that
reveal the resilience and hope of human beings who have embarked
on their respective humanistic journeys of survival and
creativity.
Current Projects
Our editorial staff is currently
working with two excellent manuscripts. One is the medical
memoirs of a woman physician who recounts her international
experiences which, in some cases, prove the old adage that
"truth is stranger than fiction."
The second manuscript is a
semi-biographical story of a Hungarian woman whose
comfortable, sheltered Catholic life is torn asunder in
Nazi-invaded Budapest, due to her Jewish ancestry. A poignant
love story is deftly woven into this suspenseful tale of a world
turned upside down. .
